About Dr. Robert Waddell A native of Fort Mill, SC, Robert Waddell grew up in Virginia, graduating from Fork Union Military Academy and Wake Forest, then The Medical College of Virginia in Richmond in 1960. In 1965, Waddell completed his residency in orthopedic surgery and moved to Virginia Beach, where he practiced for almost 30 years before retiring. Waddell is licensed to practice medicine in Virginia and is a member of the American Medical Association, a Fellow of the America College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the Medical Society of Virginia Beach and The Medical Society of Virginia. He is Co- Founder and President of the Virginia Beach Safety Council, and served seven years as a member of the Virginia Highway Safety Commission, was Past Advisor and instructor to The Virginia Beach Rescue Squads, sat on the Board of Directors of Virginia Beach General Hospital, and is Past President of the Medical Staff Virginia Beach General Hosp. Currently Dr. Waddell volunteers at the Virginia Beach Free Health Clinic.
